Saturday night’s Soul, Power & Feminism: The Revival opened with the Desert Hot Springs Jazz Band featuring scholarship recipient Mariah Hernandez, setting a vibrant, youthful tone. Holly Near followed with an iconic tribute to womyn’s power, flowing right into Lady Blackbird’s deep-soul fire and spellbinding presence. Sharing the bill, comedian Vickie Shaw brought sharp wit and Southern comedy heat, adding lift and laughter to the night. Together, they created an evening that moved from activism to artistry, from humor to heart, all wrapped in the unapologetic power of women’s voices.
